His Royal Highness turned up at CCI's Bentley show sans vintage car; other UK barons skipped the event
The Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) held a Bentley car rally in India to recognise road safety measures and mark WIAA's 90th year of motoring. Eleven days ago, an entourage of UK business barons arrived in India along with their Bentleys. Leading the delegation was His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Michael of Kent, who works for road safety in the UK.
After visiting Delhi, Udaipur, Ahmedabad and Vapi, they came for a Bentley show to be held at the Cricket Club of India, Churchgate, yesterday. Eight of the Bentleys and their owners were to be at the club from 10 am to 4 pm. But, only HRH Prince Michael of Kent came and that too, without his Bentley. He stayed for a few minutes and presented an award to Castrol India Limited for promoting road safety.
It is learnt that the absent owners and their cars were at a hotel in the city's western suburbs and returned to the UK last night.
